Big Day!

Today was Lisa's day.  She and Silly both were adopted by the same family.  We'll miss you sweet girl, but we are so happy for you.  Many congratulations to all!

Sweet Lisa

Lisa came to our house last Saturday and has had a seamless transition. Everything that has been said below by her former foster home is true. She is a hound that definitely already knows all about home life and is ready for one to call her own.  This sweet girl is going to make a wonderful addition to the lucky family who adopts her.

She was glad for the break in the weather today. She enjoyed lying in the sun with her foster sister. Lisa really enjoys the company of other dogs and will seek them out to be close to them.

And here she is ignoring my wild boy's antics.  He can usually get her to play some, but she was enjoying the breeze and sunshine too much today.

Update on Lisa

Lisa is back with us after spending a week with another foster family in Nashville. Lisa has made a huge stride towards crating and I am so proud of her. Yesterday she went in her crate on her own when it was time and waited patiently for her cookies and peanut butter Kong. This morning she did the same with just a little positive encouragement. Yeah, Lisa! She is now crating for 4-5 hour stretches with no problems. We have a blanket in the crate with her and she hasn't chewed on it at all so no muzzle, either. This little girl is adorable, and deserves a home to call her own. I'll post updated pictures soon so stay tuned.

The Life of Lisa

Happy Wednesday! We're halfway to the weekend and you know what that means....another chance to find my forever family! In the mean time I am having fun at my foster parent's house with my foster sisters. If you haven't noticed it has been H-O-T hot and I do not like the heat. My foster mom finally lured me and my foster sisters out for a quick jaunt in the yard. You can tell that the pesky little dog wanted to play, but I wasn't very interested. She had too much energy. Give me a rope or squeaky in the air conditioning any time.

I love the company of other dogs, especially greyhounds. I'm ready for cooler weather so I can race them around the yard. I wasn't much of a racer on the track, but I know I can out run them around the yard. I'm still young so I still have a little of the playful puppy in me...just enough to be cute.

Did I mention that i love being loved on. Oooooh that feels good!

I haven't had any accidents and I walk very well on the leash. I have very good manners (I was caught counter surfing once but foster dad just left those peanut butter crackers just sitting there! I mean what's a smart girl to do!?). I really don't like the crate very much, but I sleep all night in my foster parents bedroom without a peep. I'm definitely a teenager....I would sleep all morning if you let me. My foster mom also thinks I have the cutest ears. I'm looking for the perfect forever family. Can I please come home to you?

Hi, Kong thief Lisa here. I was busted. There were 5 loose Kongs and I managed to get 3 before I was caught. I am such a good hunter! Tomorrow I'm going on a home visit. Maybe I will steal some hearts and find my new forever home...wish me luck.

Hi, All, Lisa here with an update. As you can see, I am very comfortable and laid-back in my foster home (I am the white/spotted "parti" girl laid out on the floor). We are all relaxing in the tv room; our relaxation spots stretch throughout the house. I continue to be such a good girl, getting that "crate thing" worked out and otherwise a wonderful house guest. And I will be a wonderful dog for that special family. Could you be the ones? Off to relaxing in the front room now...

Hi, All, Lisa here with an update. I've now been in my foster home for a week and a half. I am really starting to relax and have fun. Still eating well, enjoying the other pets, no accidents, and I am getting the hang of the crating routine. I can now be left in without a muzzle, thanks to my peanut butter kong and a nice chewing toy.
Today we had another big day. First, we went to a baby shower at foster Mom's work. There are 3 pregnant women there! (Mom said don't drink the water, whatever that means). After we visited there for a while we went to this special place called "Adams Place" where Hey Babie and I made some new and wonderful friends! Here we are with some of them, I'm on the left and Hey Babie is on the right. These nice, new friends gave us Cheerios for snacks and we were so gentle taking them from their hands. One nice lady even had a few herself, and we all had a nice laugh together. Now we are home and taking a nap; being social wears me out! But I had fun and was told I am a "very good girl". I'll check in again soon!

Hi, I'm Lisa! I just turned 2 in March, and my foster parents say I am adorable! I was in a home for a little while, but due to work and lifestyle changes that home didn't think it had enough time for me. So I am visiting with the very couple who drove me, my sister Sandy, and Money up to Nashville from the Birmingham track back last winter; but just until I find a home I can call mine forever.
Here's a little about myself. First of all , I'm cute! My coloring is known as "parti" and I sure do fit the bill. I am currently living with 2 other greyhounds and 2 smaller dogs. We all get along well, I even get along with that rascal terrier-mix, Cosmo. There are also 2 cats here but I pretty much ignore them, except for an occasional curiosity sniff. In my former home I lived with 2 very small children, and I did fine with them, too. I eat well, will sit for a treat, have had no accidents in the house. It's been too hot to walk very much so my foster Mom doesn't know yet if I'll go "on lead" but we'll figure that out when the weather cools down a little. I wasn't crated very often in my former home and right now I don't think I like it very much but we are working on something called a "routine" and after only one week I have shown much improvement. I'm young and eager to please so I'm sure I'll learn quickly.
Yesterday was a big day for me. We went to the Farmer's Market in Murfreesboro. There were tons of people, dogs, kids, you name it. But I was very calm and friendly to everyone who wanted to pet me, and I didn't once bark at any other dogs, although some of them barked at me! Then we went to 100 Oaks and I hung out with Todd and all the other greyhound people-and all the greyhounds. Even my old friend, Money, was there to say hello again. And then on the way home to Murfreesboro we had a flat tire and I got to visit several "service stations" until we could find one to fix our tire. I know why they are called service stations; the guys there loved me and brought me water and everything while we were in the waiting room. Wow, we were all pooped when we got home. I didn't even mind a nap in my crate while my foster parents went out for dinner. Oh, by the way, I forgot to tell you that I'm sleeping on my bed in the bedroom with my foster family and all of their dogs, and one of the cats. I sleep through the night and have not been a problem at all. And they love it when I come to the side of the bed and give out morning kisses.
Guess that's it for now, my foster Mom is typed out. But we'll be sure to keep you posted about me, Sweet Lisa!

Adopted

Lisa was adopted today. I am so happy for her. She's a great girl and we enjoyed our time with her. The house is so much quieter now. She truly is a playful puppy.

Outside

Now that it is warmer out Lisa does not want to stay in the house during the day. I think she would be perfectly happy staying out all day. She will take a stuffy with her and if the door is left open she keeps going back inside to bring more out. She loves to chase things I throw. Loves tennis balls, squeekys, anything you can throw and is small enough for her to pick up. She loves the car too, and rides with her head on the console between the front seats.

Borders and the great escape

Lisa found a new playmate at Borders on Saturday. This little girl didn't leave Lisa's side and wanted to take her home. She had a mean mommy who said no. LOL Thanks to Anne-Marie for the pictures.

We had a lot of fun yesterday. I had to go out in the morning and when I came home I let the dogs outs like usual and 2 minutes later when I went to call them in they weren't there. I have a gate on the side fence that was bungeed closed, we have never used that gate. I guess sometime on Sunday or yesterday morning someone unlatched the bungee and opened the gate and the dogs noticed and took advantage. I was in a major panic. OMG I lost that a dog that isn't mine. I was more worried about Lisa than Maggie. I fixed the gate then got in my car and drove thru the neighborhood calling the dogs. No luck so I turned around and headed home and one of my neighbors was in front of the house saying she had found the grey and put her back in the yard. I put her in the house and then was going to look for Maggie on foot when another neighbor called and said that he had found Maggie about a half mile away and was bringing her home. He is the same neighbor that thru an odd set of circumstances also located my Lucy when she disappeared. I think I need to GPS the dogs :) Anyway the outcome was the afternoon was spent with both dogs zonked out from their great adventure.

Crazy Girl

Lisa plucked a rinsed plastic salad dressing bottle out of the recycle bin and she thinks it is a toy. She picks it up runs around the yard with it, then drops it, then picks it up and tries to toss it. It's adorable to watch, I just don't have the heart to take it away from her. She also likes to chase a tennis ball.

Big Changes

Lisa's never been shy but she's really opened up in the past week or so. She is starting to play with toys and my little dog and is starting to run in the yard also. She is very inquisitive. She is starting to enjoy being outside and will bark when she is ready to come in. She tries to roach but needs support to do it so she is always leaning up against the wall or the wall unit. She's really getting the hang of becoming a pet.

2 week off the track

Today marks 2 weeks since Lisa arrived in Nashville. As she is figuring things out she is getting mellower. We cant go into the kitchen without her following and she is starting to really appreciate all the loving. She doesnt like the crate at all and she is a little slow with the housebreaking. She is more alert and energetic than most greys. She was at the M&G in Murfreesboro today and she did great. She really loved all the attention from everyone and was very happy to be around other greys. The slick floors dont phase her at all and we have to keep a close eye to keep her off the counter and out of the trash. We are enjoying having her her, but know that she needs to find her forever home

The first two days

I picked Lisa up from Dr. Carol yesterday and took her to work with me. She was well behaved at the office and did really well meeting all the people. When we got home it didnt take her too long to try and get up and see what was on the counter and then the island and then the counter again. :) If I could sum her up in one word it would be spirited. There isn't a timid bone in her body. We don't crate at night and were home today so I don't know how she will do in the crate yet. We did put her in and went outside for about 10 minutes and we could hear her barking, tomorrow will be be the big test. She has had some accidents in the house (let's hear a round of applause for the steam vac) but she seems really smart and I dont think it will take too long for her to get the hang of asking to go out. She is already playing with toys and has found one of Maggie's bones that she really likes. She had her nose in just about everything when she first came in the house but seems to realize already that she can only play with what is on the floor. She loves getting petted and is full of personality. She also is going to be star. We had two Vandy students here today interviewing us about fostering and they took lots of pictures and video of her.
